Knowledge, like air, is vital to life. Like air, no-one should be denied it

This week has been crucial in setting the foundations for some of my apprenticeship where I have started to build my portfolio. It has also been really productive in terms of conducting the final arrangements of our Charity Quiz Night, I can’t believe that its only a week away!

Top 3 learning from the week:

  • Finances: This week’s college topic was on finances, whilst studying this we learnt about different types of budgets and the steps to consider when creating a budget. This was really informative as what we learnt will really help when I am working on my project for my apprenticeship. After learning the theory, we then had to apply our knowledge to case studies in the form of completing operational budgets and cash flow forecasts.
  • Personal Qualities: On top of the college work set in my lessons I have also been completing topics on my own accord. This week I focused on personal qualities and these qualities contribute to my success in the workplace. I also looked at famous leaders and what I can learn from their motivational tactics. This topic was beneficial as it has allowed me to take an in depth look at how I can further my success within my role through my qualities and motivation.
  • Portfolio Building: For my apprenticeship I have to create a portfolio of evidence in order to display my skills which I use within the workplace. My assessor came in on Tuesday in order to help me start my portfolio and we focused on my IT Skills. In the document created I explored the skills I use on daily basis and the software that I use for each; examples include word for CV formatting and letters; Outlook for emails and FireFish as our CRM system. This document will continue to grow as I progress through my apprenticeship, but this is a great starting point for my portfolio.

With the quiz next week, I hope that it will be successful and that we will be able to raise a lot of money for such a worthy cause!
