“The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.”

Another good week, where it was really interesting to learn about market forces and policies within an organisation at college, see below to find out what these topics entailed!

Top 3 learning from the week:

  • Market Forces: This week at college we focused on market forces for the first half. We looked at Porter’s Five Forces and then put it into context of the organisation. I found this really interesting and it was a great way to analyse the market forces of RP Analytics.
  • Organisational Policies: The second topic studied at college this week was all about organisational policies. We looked at various policies that may be in place within the general working environment such as dress code, sickness and holidays. To ensure we could then put this into context we described our organisations policies and then looked into policies that are specific to a sector/industry, I found this part really interesting and it helped me to understand the laws in place within the recruitment industry.
  • Spec Projects: Although already mentioned in last week’s blog I feel that to truly learn and understand a new skill you must revisit it and with that you improve and learn new and maybe better ways of doing things. So, this week I was given another spec project to complete, this time looking for telecom companies in the midlands. Since last week I feel more confident and more at ease with being able to find relevant companies. I have also found new ways of searching for companies that make the process easier and allow me to search more specifically.

I’m looking forward to growing my knowledge further next week with the topic of legislations at college.
