“What we learn becomes a part of who we are!”

This week has been extremely beneficial in terms of helping build my industry knowledge. My college progress review was really positive and it’s good to know that I am on track if not slightly ahead with my apprenticeship! At college we explored the external factors that influence an organisation, see below to find out what else I learnt.

Top 3 learning from the week:

  • College: This week in college we focused on external factors influencing the organisation. At the start of the lesson I completed a PESTLE analysis, I found this really interesting and thought provoking as it really made me think about the external factors we face here in the recruitment industry. We also covered how a change in policies and legislations affects the organisation and how the global market can also impact the workplace, putting this into context of RP Analytics and then focusing on my role. Another key learning point was on the different types of economies: free, mixed and command and the affects both positive and negative, that these can have on society.
  • Artificial Intelligence: AI is a growing trend we are seeing evolve through out the business world. This week I have been focusing on AI in regard to the manufacturing industry. For this project I was tasked with looking for manufacturing companies within the local area and collating them on the database. Since then, I have been researching articles regarding to AI in manufacturing; machine learning and the use of data in the industry. The articles that I found where really interesting and have helped me to gain a better understanding of how AI can benefit the manufacturing industry, which has also helped to build me industry knowledge.
  • Spec Projects: Throughout this week I have been completing several projects. They have been about building up a group of companies that we can spec potential candidates out to. I have been focusing on the retail sector and also the health tech and health care industry. These tasks have been really beneficial in terms of helping to build up my industry knowledge and in time this task will continue to help benefit my career as it has allowed me to understand the trends within the sectors.

Next week at college we will be focusing on Market Forces, where I am looking forward to putting Porter’s Five Forces into context of RP Analytics.
