Summer Talent Spike

Posted 21/8/2019 by Jack Diston

As we edge closer to the twilight of Summer 2019 there is one thing sure to put a dampener on any employer’s delight of the seasonal activities; being short-staffed due to holidays when deadlines are approaching or customer demand is rocketing.

Of course, Terry from Accounts deserves his 3-week break in Lanzarote. In fact, some much needed time away will recharge the batteries and keep a smile on his face.

However during this time and any other when annual leave requests are high, work expectations still need to be managed and a possible resolution to this?

Hire a temp! Why you ask..?

Here are 3 reasons:

Temps can hit the ground running at a time when you need it most. They usually have an area in which they specialise and are used to getting acquainted with new processes and people very quickly.

Many employers under estimate the negative impact of being under-staffed can have. We all want to keep things ticking over as efficiently as possible during shortages but it can be like a warzone sometimes! Hiring a temporary employee will enable support of workloads helping your team to meet the demands of the business and most importantly keep morale high.

Budgets can be tight at this time of year so its important to recognise how inexpensive it is to do in comparison to hiring a permanent member of staff.  Training isn’t required and a temp will not demand a fixed annual salary/benefits. Also no long-term commitment is needed from either party.

If you would like to know what temporary talent is out there or how we can help you - get in touch!
