Sap Systems Accountant
Salary - Approx. £40k dependant on experience
Location – Derby
My derby based client is searching for an experienced and highly organised, SAP Systems Accountant.
To develop systems and processes to ensure the effective and efficient processing of financial and non-financial data and to further extend the range of management tools and reports used to inform the business. To ensure compliance is up to date with all relevant financial standards and practices.
Responsibilities
Under direction from the Head of Finance support project teams to implement new, and update existing, systems for the processing of expenditure.
Ensure system permissions are in line with delegated authorities and approval limits and ensure the segregation of duties.
Provide a consistent and approachable point of contact for stakeholders.
Test internal processes and procedures and once confirmed to be documented.
Oversee, manage, review and challenge all appropriate Financial and Non-financial systems and proactively look for cross office opportunities for efficiency.
Ensure all policies and procedures are up to date within the finance function and wider business.
Provide training to budget holders and others in the wider organisation who need to use the systems
Work with the head of finance, and budget holders to design and develop both internal and external management reports to better inform the business.
Liaise with external stakeholders where necessary including, but not limited to, sponsor department, internal and external auditors and system developers in order to achieve these tasks.
To work to eliminate all financial offline information.
To instil a culture of robust control and efficiency throughout the business and liaise closely with the risk and governance department
Work experience At least 5 years previous experience working in a financial environment (ideally within the public sector)
Experience of designing, implementing and managing finance processes and policies
Experience of delivering month end processes and reporting and experience of using computerised finance packages
Skills, knowledge and ability
Up to date knowledge of current trends and practices relating to public sector finance and good knowledge of double entry bookkeeping
Strong analytical and numerical skills demonstrating an ability to identify and react to emerging issues
Strong interpersonal skills, able to manage conflict and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders
Excellent standard of literacy and effective written communication skills for preparing financial reports
Ability to deal with a demanding workload which will include conflicting demands on time
Ability to lead and supervise a team
