RattrayParkin is currently looking for an experienced IT Project Manager with key Agile working processes experience for a well-established and reputable client in the Nottinghamshire area.

You will be expected to successfully plan and deliver projects according to an agreed project scope and success criteria (which as a minimum will include quality, time and cost). This includes; building and managing appropriate project delivery teams and coordinating the efforts of team members and third- parties to deliver projects according to the agreed plan. You will also define the project’s objectives, communication strategy and oversee quality control throughout its lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Define the project scope, success criteria and deliverables in collaboration with IT and business stakeholders.

Develop a clear business case for the project in conjunction with business stakeholders.

Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and business stakeholders.

Communicate project expectations and updates on an ongoing basis to team members and business stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.

Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate project delivery tools.

Track milestone and general project progress against the project plan.

Conduct post project reviews, introducing (where possible) improvements to the project delivery process based on the review.

Contribute towards the ongoing improvement of the project delivery methodology/framework.

Acquisition and Deployment:

Estimate the resources (in terms of cost, time and headcount) and skills required to achieve project success.

Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.

Where required, negotiate with other department managers to secure project resource, managed on a matrix management basis.

Track and communicate project cost progress against budget.

Operational Management:

Take full ownership for the project delivery process from beginning to end.

Create and maintain project, quality and communication plans.

Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate employees.

Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project delivery process.

Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.

Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals and presentations.

Assist in proactively managing changes in project scope and manage exceptions to the plan professionally and effectively.

Coach, mentor and motivate project team members and contractors and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

 

Technical skills

University degree or equivalent in the field of computer science, Information Systems or business administration.

Hold a Prince2 Practitioner qualification.

Ideally have some formal Agile qualification such as Scrum Master, or relevant experience working within an Agile project management framework

Ideally have minimum 3 years’ experience operating level in a similar role.

 

Required experience

Previous experience of managing a small team.

A good understand of project management software, such as Microsoft Project, DevOps.

Strong experience of project delivery methodologies such as Prince 2, IPM.

Understanding of Agile delivery methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban and Lean User stories.

Good general knowledge of Information Technology systems, such as Networks, Internet, Databases, Email platforms.

Technically competent with various software programs, such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio.

Experience working both independently and team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.

Significant personal drive balanced with a passionate, engaging, encouraging and motivating approach.

Strong customer service, resource management and communication skills.

Ability to effectively prioritise and deliver tasks in a high-pressure commercially focused environment.

An effective communicator, with a natural flair for influencing and securing buy-in from a variety of stakeholders including senior management, clients, and other departments.
