A well-established and leading IT solutions company is looking for a Business Analyst to join their team in their Nottingham Based Office.

Responsibilities

The core sets of responsibilities for all of their Business Analysts include:

Project Delivery

  • As a vital link in the Enterprise Agile delivery methodology, their Business Analysts participate in and often lead agile project delivery activities, such as sprint planning, stand-ups, show and tells, and retrospectives in their daily work routine

Stakeholder Management

  • As a key interface to their clients, Business Analysts are expected to work closely with stakeholders in order to ensure the “no surprises end game” is a reality in every project we deliver

Application of Analytical Techniques

  • Their expect their Business Analysts to be able draw upon extensive practical experience of applying requirements management techniques from a range of delivery methodologies to deliver pragmatic solutions to clients
  • As well as eliciting functional and non-functional requirements, you will be responsible for driving usability and understanding client’s UX needs

Eliciting and Documenting System Functional and Non-Functional Requirements

  • Their Business Analysts author requirements and supporting documentation to a “necessary and sufficient” level, balancing the demands of timely delivery and high-quality
  • They elicit system functional requirements and non-functional requirements from a range of stakeholders and own these throughout the project lifecycle ensuring delivery aligns with client expectation
  • Eliciting and Documenting System Data
  • By drawing upon an appreciation for the solution domain, our Business Analysts structure data in a range of data models, including conceptual, logical and physical
  • Communication Requirements
  • Their Business Analysts are as confident talking to an individual stakeholder, as they are talking to an entire room. They are comfortable conducting presentations, demonstrations, and walkthroughs, both pre-arranged and ad-hoc
  • Using a variety of written and oral communication methods, you will be able to disseminate requirements to highly technical development and testing resources within the project team. They are always aware of their audience and target the level of communication accordingly

Must haves

  • Demonstrable operation as a hands-on Business Analyst, ideally in a lead role, and on large scale software delivery projects - at least one of which will have been a complex, enterprise project or programme
  • A proven track record of delivering software, ideally using agile methodologies
  • Strong stakeholder management
  • The knowledge of and practical experience in the various techniques to elicit, analyse and communicate requirements.
  • An in-depth understanding of the software delivery lifecycle, ideally within an agile environment
  • SDLC Experience
  • Contribution to inception and elaboration project activities e.g. the preparation of pre-sales proposals
  • Supporting development and testing activities, ideally as part of agile, iteration driven delivery
  • Supporting the definition and execution of user acceptance testing
  • Supporting “go-live” transition activities

Desirables

  • Familiarity with project management tools and techniques e.g. planning and estimating
  • Exposure to the delivery of different project types, such as commercial off the shelf; new development; and enhancements/support
  • Experience in activities such as:
  • Conceptual Data Modelling (modelling the domain)
  • Business Requirements Analysis using structured techniques e.g. BPMN
  • Logical Data Modelling (modelling the system)
  • Systems Requirements Analysis using structured techniques e.g. UML
  • Practical, hands-on experience with:
  • Requirements management and documentation tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence)
  • Modelling tools (e.g. Sparx Enterprise Architect)
  • Visualisation tools (e.g. Balsamiq)
  • Standard Microsoft Office software
  • Familiarity with, or appreciation of:
  • Data discovery & manipulation via SQL
  • Object oriented programming (e.g. C#, Java)
  • Continuous integration
  • Development tools
  • Testing tools
